🍓 Tuesday Evening Strawberry Picking! 🍓

Just a friendly reminder that we don’t open until 4 PM on Tuesdays—and that’s exactly why Tuesday late afternoon/evenings are often one of the best times to pick strawberries!

The berries have all day to ripen before we open. Plus, you can make an evening of it with:
🌭 Hot Dogs
🥪 Pulled Pork Sandwiches form @agave_kitchen Kitchen
🍩 Fresh Donuts
🥤 Dirty Sodas

Pick up your strawberries and supper at the same time!

🍓Strawberry Field Update 🍓
As many of you know, we experienced an early spring frost this year. While we anticipated some impact, we’re now seeing a lighter strawberry crop than in some seasons past.

The good news? We still have beautiful berries available for picking every day! It may simply take a little longer to fill your bucket or flat.
For the best picking experience:
✅ Visit in the morning or shortly after opening when the fields have the most ripe berries available.
✅ Tuesdays are expected to be especially good since the berries have extra time to ripen before our 4 PM opening.

We’ll continue to monitor field conditions and update our hours if we need to close early due to heavy picking.

This season, our We-Pick strawberries will be limited as we focus on providing the best possible U-Pick experience. You can still check our online inventory, updated Monday–Thursday after 8 PM (link in comments).

Field Condition Ratings:
You may notice our ratings look a little different this year. Because the crop is lighter, a 4/5 may be the highest rating we reach. Don’t wait for a 5! A 3–4 rating means good to great picking, and it’s a great time to visit.

Our late-season varieties are still coming in strong, which means more strawberries and more opportunities for family fun in the weeks ahead!

Something we always look forward to each spring is welcoming our farm animals back to the Fun Zone. It’s a joy watching kids and adults interact with them, and getting to know each animal’s unique personality throughout the season.

🐓 Meet Our Chickens 🐓
This year we have 12 chickens with a special story. In January, we had the honor of participating in a fundraiser for the Powers Family and 11-year-old Ray LeMay, who runs his own egg business. We were fortunate to win a silent auction item for 12 chickens. The fundraiser raised over $8,500! The girls are growing quickly, already finding creative ways to test the fencing, and bringing plenty of entertainment to the farm. They’re a meaningful daily reminder of that special connection.

🐐 Baby Goats (Kids) 🐐
We also welcomed four adorable kids from The Walnut Hill Farm. You’ll likely hear them baaing as you explore the farm! They love meeting visitors and especially enjoy treats from Farmer Greg’s General Store.

🐄 Beef Cattle 🐄
Joining us this summer are four beef cattle who will be spending the season at White Pine Farm.

We’re also excited to have alpacas from Wibotawot Farm and a few new adorable kittens around the farm.

Each year, we invite you to help name some of our animals, so keep an eye out for that post later this season! 👀

It has been wonderful seeing so many people out picking strawberries—so many familiar faces and plenty of new ones too! We’re grateful for all of you and excited to keep welcoming visitors to the farm.

As many of you know, we experienced an early spring frost this year. While we expected some impact on our crop, we weren’t sure exactly what it would look like. Now that berries are continuing to ripen, we’re seeing a more modest strawberry season than some years. The good news is that we will still have berries to be picked, but it may take a bit longer to fill your flat or bucket. 🍓

What does this mean for your visit? We continue to have beautiful berries available for picking each day. ☀️ The best picking is typically in the mornings or shortly after opening, when the fields have the most ripe berries. Later in the day, you may need a bit more time to find the perfect berries. Farmer Andrew anticipates Tuesday’s will have the best picking since we open at 4 PM. This allows the berries more time to ripen throughout the day. We’ll continue to update hours if we need to close early when fields are picked out.

This season, our We-Pick strawberries will be more limited as we focus on providing the best possible U-Pick experience in the fields. However, you can still check our inventory online which is updated M-F after 8 pm. See Comments for link.

What an incredible start to the season! Thank you to everyone who visited the farm this week and left with some juicy strawberries. ❗️We are officially picked out of conventional strawberries for the day, but will pick until 6 in our Organic fields.

The General Store and our Family Fun Zone ($5 per person) will remain open until 6:00 PM. We will also be serving up our homemade strawberry shortcake until we close today (while supplies last)! 🍰🍓

Please note that we will be CLOSED for strawberry picking tomorrow (Sunday 6/14) to give our berries an extra day to ripen. We plan to reopen for picking on Monday morning with fresh berries at 8AM!

We wrapped up another successful day of strawberry picking today, and we want to thank everyone who came out to the farm! With it being early in the season, the berry conditions change rapidly, and we appreciate all our guests making the most of the picking that is available 🥰

We've been watching the fields, tracking the berries, and patiently waiting for the perfect time to open—and that time has arrived. The berries are sweet, juicy, and ready to be picked!

The strawberry fields are starting to turn red! 🌱🍓

We've spotted some ripe berries in the field, which means strawberry season is getting very close. While there are enough berries for a taste test (or two 😉), there aren't quite enough yet to open the fields to everyone. If we did, they'd likely be picked clean in no time!

In the meantime, we will have a VERY LIMITED supply of pre-picked berries available the next couple days through online ordering:

One thing to keep in mind: our main focus is U-Pick! 🫵
There's nothing quite like heading out into the field and picking your own fresh strawberries, and we work hard to make sure that experience remains our top priority. Because of that, online ordering will be available in limited quantities and based on what the fields can support after U-Pick demand.

We also believe berries taste best when they're freshly picked, so rather than keeping a large inventory on hand, we'll harvest berries as needed to ensure you're getting the freshest strawberries possible.

🎉We're excited to offer for the 2nd year in a row both organic and conventional strawberries! By growing both, we're able to provide more consistent availability for our organic berry lovers while also offering a delicious, budget-friendly option for families looking to enjoy fresh local strawberries.

🎓 Congratulations, Parker! 🎓

Today we're celebrating one of our own team members, Parker, who hosted his graduation party at the White Pine Wedding Barn!

Parker has been part of the White Pine Berry Farm family for the past five years. What started as a job close to home turned into something much more, thanks to the great people, flexibility, and memories made along the way. If you've visited the farm, there's a good chance you've seen Parker hard at work—especially if the lawn looked extra nice, since mowing is his favorite job! (Just don't ask him about covering and uncovering pumpkins. 😅)

Parker recently graduated from River Falls High School, where he was involved in FFA, WIFA, and Mock Trial. This fall, he'll be attending University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point to major in Conservation Law Enforcement with the goal of becoming a Wisconsin Conservation Warden.

When he's not working or studying, you'll likely find him doing what he loves most: fishing. 🎣

We're incredibly proud of all you've accomplished, Parker, and can't wait to see what the future holds for you. Congratulations on your graduation and thank you for being such an important part of the White Pine Berry Farm family! 🎉🎓🌲🐟

Meet the Strawberry Planting Crew 🍓😎

Planting strawberries for next year's crop takes more than a tractor and a few plants - it takes a team! Here's an in-depth look at the roles it takes to plant 16,000 strawberry plants this year!

🪣 Root Dipper
Every strawberry plant gets its roots soaked in a fertilizer solution before planting. It's an important job... but if you ask the crew, it's usually voted the least favorite because of the smell. 😅

🚜 Tractor Driver
Keeps the planting operation moving by pulling the transplanter through the field and making sure every row stays on track.

🌱 Strawberry Planters
Two crew members ride on the transplanter and carefully place each strawberry plant into the machine, making sure they're planted at the correct spacing.

✅ Quality Control
Following behind the planter, this person checks for any "skips" or gaps where a plant may have been missed and rescues any plants that were dropped.

💧 Water Boy
Just like in the movie, the Water Boy is a key member of the team! While he may not be handing out high-quality H₂O on the sidelines, he is responsible for connecting the irrigation lines that are buried beneath the row as the strawberries are planted. He's on the sidelines of our stawberry field making sure the new plants receive the water they need to establish strong roots and grow for next year's berry season.

It's a lot of work, but every person plays an important role in growing the strawberries that families will be picking next summer. ❤️🍓

As I was working at our house, I saw a car with Mi

As I was working at our house, I saw a car with Minnesota plates slowly drive up. I met Mr. Jacobson, the former owner of this piece of ground. He shared a some history about the farm I knew growing up as “Jacobson’s” A lot of farmers name their fields after former owners.

This weekend also brought another milestone: our well was drilled and pumped. We probably overbuilt it a little for a house, but that's by design. Someday we hope to plant Christmas trees on the surrounding land, and this well should be ready for that adventure when the time comes.

Of course, we asked 3-year-old Luca what he thought of the new house. His review was simple:

"I like the big truck."

Not the house. Not the view. The well drilling truck.

Honestly, that's probably the most honest review we've gotten so far.

The Fortress Project and partner contractors are pushing hard to get us in very soon!

🍓 Planting for Next Season 🍓

While everyone is getting excited for this year’s berry season, today we were already looking ahead to next summer out in the fields. 🌱

The plants arrived at 3:40 PM this afternoon and we started planting at 4:00 PM. We finished planting 8,000 plants by 8:30 PM! 😮

About two weeks ago, we planted the conventional strawberries and today we planted the organic strawberries for next year! We typically plant organic after conventional as it helps cut down on weeding. 👨🏽‍🌾

These strawberry plants may be small now, but with a lot of sunshine, rain, and hard work, they’ll grow into the berry rows that families will be picking from next season here at White Pine Berry Farm! 🍓

The strawberry rows are waking up beautifully, and the blooms are officially making their appearance! ✨

Farmer Greg 👨‍🌾has made his prediction… he says we just might be picking strawberries by June 15th! 👀🍓

Of course, the berries and the weather like to keep us guessing, but things are looking pretty good out in the patch right now. Stay tuned for more Berry Tracker updates via our cover photo!

And don't forget, we have so much more than strawberries to look forward to - Blueberries and Raspberries won't be long after! 🫐
